My 20-year-old self thought she knew everything, but internally, I never felt worthy. After a 30-year nightmare, the last decade has been a difficult, beautiful journey of learning how to forgive myself—and this is what I wish I could say to the person I used to be.

Today marked my first solo outing, which included a challenging 60-mile drive in my dad’s blazer. Although anxious and overwhelmed at times, supportive texts from a friend helped. I visited a new pulmonary doctor who was encouraging. After a long day, I found relief at home, celebrated with pizza, and appreciated the support.
