Life does not magically “get better.” It requires work.

Daily writing prompt
What’s a chapter of your life you’d title “The Hard Years” — and what got you through it?

I’ve decided to share two older blog posts as my response to today’s writing prompt: “What’s a chapter of your life you’d title ‘The Hard Years’ — and what got you through it?”

Subscribers who have been with me a long while, and friends that know me well, already know the stories. I’m sharing them for new subscribers and friends, and for random readers that stumble upon my blog — because of today’s writing prompt.

The first post is about something that happened, and how it affected me and everyone around me. This post has a mature content warning and is not suitable for children.

The second post is what I ultimately did about it, much later.

Both posts together, fulfills the criteria of today’s prompt.

▶️ POST #1: 32 years later, I came undone. 🚩 *(What happened.)

▶️ POST #2: How I spent my summer. *(What I did about it.)

In closing, I want to let you know something. If you are struggling, even if the reasons are different from what happened to me, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. There are resources and support available to help you. You also have so much inside of you already—to start this journey. You may not believe me, but it’s there. I encourage you to take that first step.
