From there to here.

A journey from what I dreamed my life would be to what it actually became.

Did it.

Today marked my first solo outing, which included a challenging 60-mile drive in my dad’s blazer. Although anxious and overwhelmed at times, supportive texts from a friend helped. I visited a new pulmonary doctor who was encouraging. After a long day, I found relief at home, celebrated with pizza, and appreciated the support.

Changes.

Yesterday marked the end of my therapy journey with a long-term MST/PTSD therapist who guided me through nearly four years of challenges. I’m moving on to a new therapist and ACT, feeling a mix of gratitude, pride, sadness, and fear about this transition. I reflect on the emotional impact of changing therapists.

How I spent my summer.

The author reflects on a challenging period marked by worsening depression and isolation since February. They voluntarily participated in a 90-day residential V.A. treatment program for PTSD, which included various therapies and supportive interactions with peers. Although not fully healed, the author gained valuable coping skills and feels committed to their recovery journey.
