If you ever had the chance to meet my dad, it is unlikely that you would have forgotten him. For those who knew him and loved him, don’t be sad that he is gone. Be happy that you knew him.
What an amazing life. From plowing fields behind horses and delivering milk in wagons, the Depression, WWII, marriage, family, kids, the farm, and work work work. When news was days or weeks late by print or radio. Work hard. Play hard (fishing, camping, hunting, playing cards). Lots of achievement, community service, learning, growing, providing and always doing his (more than) fair share. All the way through to a world being circled by an International Space Station, linked by the Internet, Zoom meetings, and virtual money that pays bills by clicking on a few keyboard buttons. Where news is now instantaneous, no matter where it happens. What amazing change he has seen. What amazing things he has done. What amazing things he hoped for. He would not want us to spend too much time being sad. He would want us to be the kind of people that do what we need to do (family first) and help out (neighbors, friends, and community) when we can. He would want us to say what we mean. He would want us to be happy. So, when you look at this photo, remember a fellow who was just doing the best he could and who wanted to make a difference. And, be happy.

Please say an extra prayer for my brothers Bernie and Chris, and their wives, Sandee and Kym…..who have been caring for my dad for many months at home on the farm. Dad was home with family because of them. I can’t even begin to express my love and gratitude to my big brothers and their wives, for all they have done. Thank you so much.
